Miami’s Premier Art Fair Turns 21

Art Miami, the city’s longest-running contemporary art fair and one of the most lauded among art collectors, returns for its 21st year next month. The five-day exhibit, December 1–5, will feature paintings, sculpture, and photography from more than 700 of the leading contemporary artists worldwide. A November 30 cocktail reception benefiting the Lotus House Woman’s Shelter, also in Miami, will offer VIP patrons a first look at this year’s collection, which will feature Roy Lichtenstein’s Reflection Red Frame (1990), Jackson Pollock’s Grey Center (1946), Pablo Picasso’s Buste d’homme (1969), sculptor Lynn Chadwick’s Sitting Couple on a Bench (1990), and Ansel Adams’ From Wawona Tunnel, Winter Yosemite (c.1930). Rising talent to watch are photographers Elinor Carucci and Brian Finke.

Also joining in the festivities is the Mandarin Oriental, Miami, which is partnering with Art Miami in celebration of its 10th anniversary in the city. The Mandarin exhibit, curated by Brian A. Dursum, director and curator of University of Miami’s Lowe Art Museum, will be located in the lobby of the hotel and will feature unique contemporary Asian artwork from artists such as Makoto Fujimura and Qin Feng.
