Otahuna Lodge, a Relais & Châteaux property, reopened last month after a six-month renovation. The 116-year-old Queen Anne–style homestead has been restored to its authentic British colonial charm and it maintained its original stained glass windows, rimu paneling, hand-carved kauri staircase, and 15 fully functional wood-burning fireplaces.

The 30-acre, seven-suite estate (starting at $704 per night), located in New Zealand’s Canterbury region, has grounds blanketed with wild daffodils, fruit trees, and vegetable and rose gardens. Dinner every night, a complimentary five-course degustation menu with local wine pairings, is served in the home’s dining room at a 14-seat communal table. Private tables for two are also available in the wine cellar, library, and drawing room.
